"Do you have to do exams for this then...?" -_-

So I was doing this lovely ladies Shellac nails a couple of days ago. I had previously explained to her what I was doing (my Level 3) and what treatments I was training in. About 10 minutes later she was looking at her nails and said "Do you have to do exams for this then?".
Nowww. She didn't say it in a particular bitchy way and I'm sure she didn't mean to offend but YESSSS! It annoys me when people don't realise the hard work that goes into it and what you have to remember... parts of the nail plate, bones, muscles, lymph nodes etc.

I guess people just think its painting nails, pretty easy job. Ahh never mind.

While I'm on the subject of ranting why do people think its ok when they get a manicure to keep their hands as close to them as possible??
Surely they can see my arms stretched across the table and don't get me started on thumbs!! Why do people point their thumbs up in the air so that they see more nail than me, whilst I'm painting them? Even when I politely ask them to relax their hand and point their thumbs down they continue to do it as if they are carefully watching every stroke I make on the nail whilst my body is stretched across the table trying to see the other side of their thumb!
Now of course not everyone is like this, but I'm sure they are aware Ive got cramp when they see the pain on my face when trying to paint a simple thumb nail?

So please next time you have a manicure, for the love of god relax that hand! :)

Lash Dip

Aparently the future of eyelash enhancements is LashDip.

Its website states that...
"LashDip is an innovative cosmetic application that is poised to revolutionize the mascara industry. "Dipping" your lashes just once allows you to maintain gorgeous, beautifully sculpted, semi-permanent painted lashes for up to six weeks!"

Well being a sucker for big thick lashes I loved the sound of this new treatment, its low maintenance, no more bothering with mascara. As far as I know its only available at the moment in the states and it can cost $200-300 (about £122-184)! Pretty pricey for what seems to be a glorified thicker lash tint.

I have seen alot of peoples comments on varies articles saying things like they felt like they were going to sleep with mascara on which they hated. An article on Elle (which has now been deleted) has said that LashDip uses aniline die in there formulation which is toxic for the eye area and can cause blindness. Eeeeek, so would you splash the cash on LashDip?

OPI Shatter

A few weeks ago I was working fridays at a salon and while I was their I saw they had OPI Shatter and asked If they sold it. The boss said no but she could get my a bottle from her supplier. At this point I was like yesss I'll be able to get it at trade price, um NOOOO.
"Its £10.50 that alright?" Now usually I would not pay £10 for a varnish, but seeing as though Id already been saying how much I wanted one I said yes.
I had been planning on getting the Barry M one but all the shops nearby were sold out.
So Ive had OPI Shatter for a few weeks, but havent had a chance to try it out in a design, so I came up with this, this weekend...

I used these...
I applied a basecoat, then Barry M's Shocking Pink then let it dry for a while before putting tape down the middle to get a clean line and applying OPI Shatter on one side. Sealed with topcoat after painting a line down the middle to make it stand out a bit more.
I quite like it like this, but Id love to see what else you could do with Shatter!

So I thought Id create a Beauty blog to rant about anything that annoys me and things that I love!
Im currently a Level 3 Beauty Therapy student, Ive just landed a job in a lovely reputable salon, which Im very pleased about :)
I dont know anyone personally that is as passionate about Beauty related things than me so Im looking forward to meeting people that are!
